SystemX Managers

Device and User Managers

In addition to more general Policy Based Routing rules SystemX can also manage individual discovered devices or manage users with individually configured WiFi usernames and passwords based on WPA-Enterprise.

Devices and Users can be managed locally on a single system, or fleet-wide from a SystemX Server.

SystemX Device Manager

Device Manager

The SystemX Device Manager actively monitors a network for new device connections such as cell phones, laptops and other personal electronic devices.

A Device Manager can be added on any available interface, and will begin monitoring the network as soon as it is enabled.

Devices

Device's are detected by monitoring network traffic, by observing MAC Addresses, IP Addresses, and DHCP negotiations.

Traffic from detected devices will be routed automatically based on the chosen source interface and destination network. For example, a device manager can be configured to route traffic from mobile devices connected to a wireless LAN to a secure VPN with internet access.

Optionally, traffic can be encrypted and securely routed through a registered proxy such as a SystemX ground server, allowing devices to be remotely monitored and managed.

Device Management

After a device is detected, a new device instance will be created allowing the device to be managed by an administrator.

Managed devices have their own unique configuration, and their settings can be saved for persistent use. Untrusted devices can be blocked to prevent them from communicating on a network or accessing the internet.

User Manager

The SystemX User Manager gives administrators the ability to manage WPA-Enterprise users. The User Manager relies on a secure RADIUS server for user authentication.

The server can be configured to use a local certificate, or the certificate of a trusted domain which allows for fleet wide user management.

Once established, the User manager can be associated with any WiFi access point on the system.
